Don’t you love to listening to music that you get fresh to?  Whenever you feel like getting ready for a night out in the town, pop in the mixtape “Stylish shoes & Colored Jeans” by The Rocketeers.  Their music will definately have you feeling fresh and ready to go! I got the chance to talk with D-win, one half of the member of the group, and we talked about a lot of great things such as music, life, and even of course fashion.  What did you expect that’s what we are about?  Read the interview and tell us what you think! Don’t forget to download the Mixtape here! And click for the full interview!!

1.Why did u call it stylish shoes and colored jeans?

Johnny Rocket redid a song by Amy Winehouse. He wrote a line for it called stylish shoes and colored jeans.  We were kind of making fun of it. People characterize them as a hipster. It’s not the way you dress.  They used to dress like that back in 2007.

2.Based in Chicago do you get a lot of support for your music?

Chicago is one of those of cities where you gota work 3 times harder.   You got everyone out here doing it.  We stand out because our music is different from the regular Chicago artist.  We make different sounding music and we take risks with our sound.  Chicago has helped us a lot. If you can make it out there u can make it anywhere.

3.  You plan to move to New York this summer.  Why did you choose New York as the place to move to?

We had 2 shows in New York and the following was really good. Did a show in January and we killed it and rocked it. We were googling, and we were like on 20 different blogs.  It was Tuesday.  It’s not even a party night. It blew us away.  Chicago is a good place to start. But New York is the mecca and that’s where hip hop started.  No

4.  I can tell from your photos and the way you dress that you all are very fashionable.  Would you consider starting your own clothing line since you see a lot of music artist going towards that direction?

Well I was majoring in fashion design at the Illinois institute of art. I know how to sow, knit, and make patterns.   I want to eventually start a clothing line.  The difference between my clothing line and others is I know about fabrics. I went to school and study that for 4 years.

5.  When do you plan on starting your line?

I’m broke I don’t have any money right now.  Once I get rich and famous.  My clothing line would be something like Ralph Lauren.  Something classic, but with that comes money.

6.  How would you classify your style?

I classify my style as vintage far as clothes.  I do thrift shopping, mixed with a little designer, and little accessories.  I gota few designer things. I’m a skinny dude so I can wear anything and basically make it look good. I never match. I just throw stuff on. Being too matchy is too typical when u don’t match u don’t have a style.

7.  What are your favorite shoes to wear?

I’m everything.  As far as sneakers a lot of Jordan’s, a lot of Nikes, and Loafers boots. It depends on the mood I’m feeling and the day that I’m wearing it.  My Favorite Jordan is the aqua 8s and I love the air Yeezys. I have the grey and tan ones.  With the aqua 8s u can wear with anything.

8.  What’s coming up next for the Rocketeers?

We are coming out with the mixtape called the matinee and its going to have 5 songs.  People are ready for it.  Just a little sampler get the street backs. Not hitting the blogs heavy. We called it the matinee because you see a movie an early time for a cheaper price giving people an opportunity to view it. We want to do the same with the mixtape, it has all original songs not jackin anyone else.

Another note!!

These guys are definitely humble and have a lot of talent.  I usually do not listen to new music a lot because it sounds the same, but these guys really have something good going here.  So please check out the mixtape!
